May 11, 1936 - April 14, 2024

Helen, 87, of Lakeland, FL passed peacefully at Lakeland Regional Hospital on April 14,2024 with her daughters by her side.

Helen was born in Springfield, MA where she lived until she married the love of her life Robert [Bob] Whalen on Dec 15, 1953. They were married for 62 years and resided in CT for most of their life and they had 4 daughters; Donna Whalen of Middletown CT, Wendy and her husband Paul Adamowicz of Lakeland FL, Linda Timmerman, of Clinton CT, and Mary Campbell {deceased}.

Helen also leaves her precious grandchildren Paulie Adamowicz, Kristin and her husband Ricky Moore, Sarah Timmerman and Kysha Wajda, 10 Great Grandchildren, her brother Peter Goss and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her husband Bob, mother Blanche Aldrich, her daughter Mary Campbell, her brother Bill Aldrich and her Granddaughter Terri Adamowicz.

Helen and Bob owned and operated Whalen Cleaning Servies for 35 years. She then worked at Ponds in Clinton, CT as a Traffic Controller for many years before retiring. Helen was a devoted and beloved nanny for the Goldberg family.

Helen was devoted to faith to her Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of the "Good News Clowns" Christian Ministry and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Helen enjoyed traveling, quilting, crafts, and reading. During her later years Helen moved with her daughter Wendy and Paul to Schalamar Creek Lakeland, FL where she was involved in the bible study and various community activities. One of Helen's favorite pastimes was sitting in the sunshine waving to all her neighbors with her welcoming smile as they walked by. Helen also enjoyed going shopping with her friend Penny, taking walks, and using her scooter to look for the ducks and her friend {Charlie the alligator}.

Helen had a gift of serving others, a great sense of humor, and above all, unconditional love for her family. She is loved by so many and will be missed deeply.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, at 11:00am at
Trinity Lutheran Church
